Upcoming Sydney Events
2023 Training and Events
On most Sundays we meet hail, rain or shine on Hospital Road, at the rear of the Sydney Eye Hospital at 8.00am.
There are some Sundays on which we will not meet on Hospital Road owing to other activities taking place in the Domain or because Achilles training has been cancelled to allow full Achilles participation in an event. We will advise members in advance.
We walk or run for an hour, taking in the sights, sounds and smells of some of Sydney’s most spectacular sites – the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Opera House and Mrs Macquarie’s chair. If you are planning to attend training please use the RSVP system below [This applies to Guides too!]
In order that we can manage the numbers, co-ordinate guides and to comply with COVID Regulations, we require you to RSVP prior to 5 p.m. on the Friday prior to training by using the RSVP form in the weekly emails. If you are not receiving the emails please contact – info@achilles-sydney.org.au to be subscribed.

Introduction of Trail runs.
A number of our members with a disability have expressed an eagerness to attempt trail runs or other off-road events. Such events might include the revised Centennial Park Ultra or the Fernleigh 15. We will be exploring such options with a view to making some of these events available in 2023.
parkrun: Weekly Free 5km Timed Runs
Achilles encourages members to support the parkrun 5K events that are held throughout Sydney every weekend. If you wish to find a guide [or be a guide] at any of these events, Achilles is happy to help.
Note: Every parkrun is superbly managed, friendly and accessible. However, some are more difficult than others. The degree of difficulty can be altered by characteristics such as hills, broken ground, posts and course congestion. We encourage guides to be familiar with the proposed course in order that any hazards or difficulties are well understood beforehand.
Sydney-area parkruns are currently being held at the following locations. [Click on the names to navigate to the individual websites.]
Campbelltown, Casula Parklands, Centennial, Chipping Norton, Cooks River, Cronulla, Curl Curl, Dolls Point, EastRichmond, Galston, Greenway, Kamay, Lawson, Menai, Mosman, Nepean River, North Sydney, Panania, Parramatta, Penrith Lakes, Rhodes, Rooty Hill, Rouse Hill, St Peters, The Ponds, Whalan Reserve, Wildflower, Werrington Lakes Reserve, Wentworth Common, Willoughby.
