Bush | Trail Bus 24th June | Run Melbourne | Tan Handicap
Hiking/trail running/bushwalking is an activity that is now a regular feature at Achilles Melbourne. Thanks to support from Bupa, Achilles Melbourne will be hitting the trails regularly throughout 2023 in partnership with Trail Bus tours. The Trail Bus provides tailored and curated trail run/hike opportunities. The Trail Bus run regular accessible tours for our members with vision impairment. In 2023, Bupa are supporting Achilles financial members to hit the trails, with all tour fees covered. Outside the Trail Bus tours, our bushwalking/hike team are committed to ensuring that there are regular opportunities to explore Melbourne's many natural areas away from the CBD.
Hike difficulty varies from easy to difficult terrain and long/short distances. Distances are adjusted according to the terrain difficulty. Outings are usually from early morning until late afternoon on a weekend.
Past trips have included Bendigo, Bunyip state park, Kilcunda, Lysterfield lake and Bushranger's Bay in the Mornington Peninsula.
We highly recommend that members have a good level of fitness before embarking on a hike/trail run with us.

9:00am start at Yarra Ranges National Park
Come with us on a group trail adventure through on the lands of the Wurundjeri and Taungurung Peoples in the stunning Yarra Ranges National Park.
Situated between Melbourne and the Victorian Alps, the Yarra Ranges National Park is a place of epic views and majestic rainforests. The Yarra Ranges spans an extensive, mountainous area of cool temperate forest around the three towns of Marysville, Healesville and Warburton. This national park is home to the world’s tallest flowering tree, the Mountain Ash, which towers over lush tree ferns and mossy Myrtle Beech. Dark gullies are home to clear streams which feed the Yarra River and major reservoirs from which Melbourne draws its drinking water.
Prepare to be immersed in the scenery as you traverse through lush forests and take in the eerie, misty solitude surrounded by the Mountain Ash sentinels. This tour boasts a mix of trail types and is great entrance level tour or a more chilled tour for experienced adventurers. Starting on the Black Spur (Maroondah Hwy) we will climb up Monda rd followed by a rolling, flowing downhill into Toolangi State Forest and back to our finish point at Dom Dom Saddle Picnic Area. We will enjoy a meal and drinks at the Black Spur Inn before our return to the city.
Bus transfer is available, but we are limited to 10 spots on the Bus.
